Difficulty: easy



  • 1 basket organic tomatoes (well ripe)
  • 1 big onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 10 basil leaves
  • salt


Cut tomatoes, onion and cloves and basil. Put them in a pot. Cook for 20′

Rinse the mix in a colander and then pass it with a vegetable mill. Add olive oil.

Cook until is enough thick. Adjust salt at the end

Story of the recipe

My mum has the electric tomato press and with that instruments she can make dozens of tomato preserves.

Occasionally, at the end of summer she’s tired of making it so it arrives the usual tomato basket with the last crop…. and I made some preserves for myself without specific tool! Just using a couple of common things everyone has.

This is my simple version of homemade tomato sauce.
