  • Friselle: double toasted bread, really hard (You can use bagels, and toast them in the oven until really really really hard)
  • Tomatoes
  • olive oil
  • vinegar
  • salt
  • basil leaves


Prepare a bowl with cold water and salt, stir well to let the salt melt.

In an other bowl, cut tomatoes and add oil, vinegar, basil leaves, salt. Let it rest for 10′.

Take the bread, dip it in the salt water for 1-2 seconds, then spread on top the tomatoes and serve

Story of the recipe

This is a typical dish in southern Italy, I tried it and fell in love with it when I had the chance to taste it on a boat on cristal clear water at the sunset, with a glass of wine…. that was my own paradise on earth!
