Vanilla crescents

traditional German Xmas cookies

Difficulty: easy


  • 200 grams flour
  • 125 gram soft butter
  • 100 gram almond flour
  • 100 gram sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teespoon baking powder
  • powder sugar for sprinkling afterwards


Add the flour, almond flour, sugar and baking powder in a bowl and mix them together.

Add the egg, the vanilla extract and the butter and mix until you get a smooth dough.

form the dough into balls then take a ball and roll it with your fingers to make a 5 cm rod and bend it to make creasent.

Place the creasent on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and do the same to the rest of the dough.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for about 10 minutes.

Sprinkle powder sugar on the creasents right after they come out of the oven then a second time after they are complitely cooled down.
