- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter milk
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground clover
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 peeled & thinly sliced oranges (seeds& white layer removed)
In a skillet add the butter and the brown sugar & let it melt on low heat while mixing.
Add the orange slices and let them carmelize for about 1-2 minutes.
Take out the orange slices and arrange them in a butter coated baking pan then pour the butter sugar melt over it & distrbute it evenlly.
In a bowl add the eggs, the granulated sugar and the vanilla extract and beat until creamy.
Add the butter milk & the oil and mix.
Add the orange zest , the cinnamon and the rest of the spices and mix.
Add the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and mix.
Pour the batter on the caramelized orange layer and bake in a pre heated oven at 170C for about 40 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
wait for about 5 minutes then turn the baking pan on your serving plate.
