Ingredients

for the dough:

  • 250 gram flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • hot water as needed

For the butter mixture:

  • 150 gram unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 5 tablespoon plain flour

Procedure

To make the butter mixture mix the butter and the flour together until you get a creamy mixture, then set aside.

Add the ingredients for the dough together and knead until you get a slightly firm dough.

Divide the dough into equal parts and roll them flat one by one (roll until paper thin).

Add 1 spoon of butter mixture and spread all over.

Fold the dough into squares and roll it flat one more time.

Brush s cooking pan with oil and heat it on a stove on medium.

Place the dough in the pan and cook then flip to cook the other side.

Remove and pull slightly with fingers to open up the layers.

Story:

The story behind is à recipe that brings all the members of our family together. My grandparents were blessed with 12 children and yes we were a very large family. My grandma was a cook and often made faratha and several dishes to go with Just to see all her children and grand Kids. Laughter and family stories were shared.
