Author: @hive_sussex Serves: Time: 10′ + 20′ for cooking

Difficulty: easy

Ingredients

  •  4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 eggs (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1cup of water

Procedure

Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar and baking powder) together.

Add the butter and egg then mix with hands.

Make a hole and pour your water, then mix until its no longer sticky on hands!(That part is essential – shouldn’t be sticky).

Kneed the dough and cut into eight pieces (or however size you want).

Fry on low heat so that the inside has time to cook.

Bon apatite!

About this recipe:

This recipe is quite popular in east Africa. We call them mandazi (African doughnut).

  1. Uhm… I don’t know, I’ll ask the author, but I found a recipe of the Botswana version that doesn’t have butter and instead milk… slightly different… maybe it’s a variation of the same “theme”
