- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup soft unsalted butter
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup butter milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 and 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- lemon zest for decoration
Add the butter and the granulated sugar to a bowl and mix until creamy.
Add the eggs one by one while mixing after each eggs.
Add the butter milk, the vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon lemon zest and mix well.
Add the flour and the baking powder and mix.
line a medium baking pan with butter and flour and pour the cake mix in.
Bake for approximately 40-45 minutes at 350 F (175 C).
While baking prepare the lemon sauce by mixing a 1 cup of lemon juice with a 1 and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until you have a thick liquid.
Let the cake cool down a little bit then pour the lemon sauce on it and let it infuse the cake.
Decorate with some lemon zest on top.
